Roads Department

The primary function of the Road Maintenance Department is routine road care, including maintenance and repair township roads and snow removal.
Road maintenance will also pick up residential brush.
Most residents know the employees of the Road Maintenance Department as the individuals who brave the weather to remove ice and snow off neighborhood roads and streets. Streets are cleared on a priority basis and our drivers have a reputation for their fast and efficient service.
The Township’s Street Paving and Repair Program strives for quality management of all township streets through a rating system using detailed statistical analysis. Seasonal time restraints, budget and workload determine the number of streets to be completed annually.

Call 937-964-1661 with any questions. Office located at 3940 Lawrenceville Dr., Springfield, Ohio 45504 (double-doors).

Brush Removal
The German Township Maintenance Department provides, as a courtesy to all German Township Residents, removal of residential trimming of brush or shrubs. This does not include the clearing of residential lots of trees, or for business use.
We recommend if you hire a tree service to cut down or trim your trees on your lot, that you have the tree service remove your brush. There is NO Commercial brush/mulch/tree/limb drop off allowed at the Township facilities. If you have a commercial tree service company do any work on your property the Township cannot pick up the brush/mulch/tree/limbs.

Guidelines for brush pick up are as follows:
No larger than 4 inch diameter (our chipper does not allow for larger branches)
No logs, stumps, or root systems
Place brush along road right-of-way NOT in the road
Cut edges toward the road in neat piles (this allows quick, safe clearing of the brush)
Call the Township Maintenance Garage at 964-1665 to leave your address for brush pickup

The Maintenance Department will pick up your brush when they are in your neighborhood. German Township does not provide old Christmas tree or leaf pickup. Please do not rake leaves or grass clippings into ditches or culverts, as this will block the flow of water. If you have any questions please feel free to call Township Office, 964-1661, or the Maintenance Garage, 964-1665.

History of German Township

German Township is one of the ten townships of Clark County, Ohio, United States. The 2000 census found 7,336 people in the township, 7,012 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township. The township covers approximately 34 square miles. It is one of five German Townships in the state of Ohio.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township fiscal officer,[5] who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
